What the calculator is doing

Compacted volume = length × width × depth; order volume = volume × (1 + allowance %); weight = order volume × supplier density.

  • Imperial volume is converted to cubic yards before multiplying by tons per cubic yard.
  • Density varies with aggregate type, grading, and moisture; supplier data is more reliable than a generic default.
  • Base and decorative surface courses should be calculated separately because depth and density differ.
